‘Know thyself, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.’
Sun Tzu, The Art of War.
Last week I talked about reframing the idea of selling into looking for people you can help. This week, I want to help you get clear on “the perfect person to help”
A buyer avatar is a detailed profile of your ideal customer. It focuses on one person and outlines everything about them.
When looking at an avatar, you need to create a clear idea of the sort of person or business that you want to go after. You include things like their challenges, their pain points, their goals and values, as well as the sort of people they are likely to be. Your avatar will also have a name, because they ARE human.
Having an avatar will help you focus on your ideal clients, helping you provide bespoke solutions to their problems instead of spreading yourself thin trying to please a larger population.
You can use my template to help you figure out who you’d like to target.
P.s We’re thinking of running a workshop to help people create their avatars. If you’d like the heads up on when we launch it, you can let us know here.
