We become what we think about. How to achieve your goals: An Outside idea

We become what we think about.

A story of how to achieve your goals

We become what we think about.

Back in 1995, a man created a vision board. He’d put a picture of everything that he wanted to achieve, like a watch, a car, a home, and a family. Every day, he would sit in his office and visualise the dream, as though he’d already acquired it.

5 years later, the man bought a house and renovated it for a year. Over a period of 5 years, he made three different moves, and then he finally bought a house and renovated it for a year. He had all his stuff delivered from his other house 5 years earlier.

One morning, his son went into his office and insisted on seeing what was in one of the unpacked boxes. It was a couple of vision boards. The son, curious to see the vision board, convinced his dad to open them up.

When he pulled up the vision board, he saw the most fascinating thing.

There was a picture of the home he was visualising five years earlier, and what was shocking to him was that they were actually living in that exact house. Not a house like it. The EXACT same house.

He had bought his dream house without even knowing it.

This sounds like fiction, right?

Only, it’s not. It’s a real life story, and it happened to John Assaraf, an entrepreneur, international best selling author, lecturer, and business advisor.

Thoughts become things

Have you read The Secret?  It’s a book based on the law of attraction, and its packed pull of real life testimonials from very successful entrepreneurs on how the law of attraction has changed their life.  Thoughts truly become things.

WE BECOME WHAT WE THINK ABOUT

It stands to reason that every person who’s thinking about a concrete and worthwhile goal is going to reach it because that’s what he is thinking about, and we become what we think about.

Conversely, the person who has no goal, who doesn’t know where they are going and whose thoughts must therefore be thoughts of confusion, anxiety, fear and worry becomes what he thinks about. Their life becomes one of frustration, fear, anxiety and worry. And if he thinks about nothing, he becomes nothing.

The human mind will return anything we want to plant. Well, you might say, “If that’s true, why don’t people use their minds more?”.

Our mind comes as standard equipment at birth. It’s free and things that are given to us for nothing we place little value on. Things that we pay money for, we value.

The paradox is that exactly the reverse is true. Everything that is really worthwhile in life came to us for free. But the things that cost us money are actually very cheap and can be replaced at any time but the things we got for nothing, we can never replace.

The human mind isn’t used because we take it for granted. Familiarity breeds contempt. The mind can do any job we assign to it but generally speaking, we use it for little jobs instead of big important ones. So decide now. Plant your goal in your mind. It’s the most important decision you ever make in your entire life.

How to change your negative thoughts

Nearly all of us want to become good things. We’re all after success and happiness. But are those the thoughts that we’re planting in our minds on a daily basis?

If you’re a small business owner, what are you constantly telling yourself about the future of your business?

The law of attraction proves that for us to succeed, we need to already believe in our ability to be successful. So if you want to sign 100 clients by the end of the year, you need to visualise these 100 clients. You need to wake up everyday like you run a successful business with 100 clients, and embody the behaviour of a successful business owner.

Here are 5 practical ways to ensure you are keeping a positive mindset in business:

  1. Be proactive

Whenever you talk to people about the law of attraction, the main thing that comes up is that it’s useless if you just sit and manifest good things without putting in the work.

There’s no doubt about that. The Law of Attraction only works when you put in the work too.

If you want to maintain positive thoughts about your business, you must also put in the work.

Believe wholeheartedly that the work you’re putting in will pay off, and it will. If you are proactive about your business, you will be motivated to think good thoughts and improve their business.

You know what they say, the dream won’t work unless you do.

2. Challenge your thoughts

Thoughts become things.

So make sure that what you’re thinking constantly is a good thing.

Some of the common negative thoughts in business are:

“But so and so is already doing the same thing..” – Yes, but they’re not you.

“I’ll never be able to compete with them” – You don’t need to. That’s what makes you unique.

“This will never work out.” – How many times have you tried before giving up?

Flip the narrative and change your life.

3. Change your perception

The way we look at things determines how we feel about them.

In business, one thing I can 100% guarantee you is that you will be tested. And it’s in times like these that you’ll need to look at things from a different lens.

When it seems like everything is trying to test you, recognise that once you get over the hurdle you’ll be much stronger and fit to solve bigger issues.

If you have ever done a SWOT analysis, you will realise that your weaknesses can, in most cases, be turned into strengths. Conversely, the threats can create opportunities.

Steve Jobs said, “In most cases strengths and weaknesses are the two sides of the same coin. A strength in one situation is a weakness in another.”

4. Practice gratitude

Right now, stop everything you’re doing and list 10 things that you’re grateful for in your business.

I’d bet that at the end of that list you’re feeling much better about yourself and your accomplishments.

Gratitude is a great way to challenge your negative thoughts. It opens you up to the realisation that you are great and have done a lot of incredible things.

Recognising all the things you’ve done gives you the motivation to do even more.

There’s always something to be grateful for, even in business. If you look deep enough, you will be able to realise how great you are and how much potential you have for the future.

5. Be happy when you work

When you wake up every morning, what feelings do you get when you think of all the work that awaits you?

Throughout the day, you should be excited about work. You should be excited to get your hands on new projects and work on them from start to finish.

Always keep in mind that you chose your business or your field because you genuinely enjoy it, so be happy while you work.

Know that if you are unhappy while trying to get something done, the work suffers.

If you can remain happy as you work, that positivity will lead to good things.

Conclusion

Good thoughts are a prerequisite to business success. No matter how hard it seems, always try to focus on the good things that are happening in your business. The more you think about these good things, the more you attract better things. It’s the law of attraction.

To maintain positive thoughts in business, you should:

  1. Be proactive
  2. Challenge your thoughts
  3. Change your perception
  4. Practice gratitude
  5. Be happy when you work
