Networking in…with Sam Warner

Networking in…with Sam Warner

On Wednesday at Networking in…we finally heard from Sam Warner on “TEDx for dummies.”

Sam gave a really generous talk on what it takes to give a TED talk. It was great!

She took us through the application process and emphasised on following the strict guidelines and rules that are set by TED.

One of the reasons why TED talks are so special is because they’re short and precise. The greatest TED talks have something new and something inspiring.

She recommends that you don’t be ordinary, and make it a rich experience for the viewer. It’s not about you, it’s all about your audience.

Her top tips were:

1. Relax your language
2. Focus on some fresh, new information
3. Acknowledge and politely address any contradiictions
4. End on a high note. with a call to action
5. Avoid selling

It was truly a fantastic session!
