Grace Green - Home-Start West Berkshire
My enthusiasm lies in empowering others to embrace change. Recently, I successfully concluded a Level 7 coaching and mentoring course with CMI, reflecting my insatiable appetite for personal development. I channel my newfound knowledge to inspire individuals to surpass their limitations. Training is an area I find joy in, with a particular passion for fostering increased self-esteem and recognizing the lasting impact it can have on team members.
In addition to my professional pursuits, I recently achieved a personal milestone by completing my third and final Brighton Marathon, surpassing my previous time by an impressive 18 minutes. This endeavor also allowed me to raise over £1000 for Home-Start West Berkshire. Beyond my commitment to personal and professional growth, I actively participate in the vibrant world of musical theatre with the esteemed Newbury Nomads. A standout experience was in 2015 when I took on the lead role as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, a thrilling challenge that earned me a highly commendable recognition from NODA.
In my capacity as Director of the charity, my responsibilities encompass a diverse range of tasks, including crafting funding applications, overseeing progress monitoring, supervising the staff team, and recruiting volunteers. Each day presents unique challenges and opportunities. Nearly 16 years ago, I began my journey with Home-Start as a volunteer, and my passion for the organization remains undiminished in my current role as a staff member. Home-Start facilitated my transition into a new career dedicated to supporting families, and I have never regretted that decision. Working for Home-Start West Berkshire is a privilege that I cherish.
My mantra: “Always do what you are afraid to do.”
About My Business
Home-Start, a charitable organization, provides assistance to families with children under the age of 5 through a distinctive approach. This involves training and supporting volunteers to offer help directly within the family’s home, ensuring the preservation and respect of their identity. The support provided is personalized to address the specific needs of each family. For instance, a family with a disabled child might seek respite for rest or to spend quality time with other siblings. Conversely, a family experiencing isolation may require support to connect with local groups. In West Berkshire, Home-Start specializes in providing Post Natal Depression Support through therapy groups and peer support.
